About 8% of people stick to their New Year’s Resolution. This makes you wonder if their resolutions were too vague or if they were too overwhelmed by them.

The key to making a successful resolution is by making it clear and concise. You want some form of an achievable goal. You can have one large goal and then smaller goals that lead up to it to make it less daunting.

Below we’ll look at a few fitness-related New Year’s resolution ideas. Hopefully, these help you on your fitness journey.

1. I’ll Attend a Workout Class at Least Once a Week

In the beginning, it may be easier to attend a class once a week, especially if you’re not used to working out. As you get more into the rhythm of it, you can add more classes during the week.

Work with a personal trainer to find out what best works for you. Having a trainer there can help you reach your fitness goals and make you more accountable.

You can also try going with your friends. It’ll make you more accountable as well as make the experience more enjoyable.

2. I’ll Exercise Every Morning or During My Lunch Break

If your goal is to get more exercise into your life, take a look at your schedule and see when you’re free. If needed, wake up a little earlier in the morning so you can work out.

Keep your work out consistent so your body gets into the rhythm of doing it. You want it to become a habit.

Make sure to pick exercises you’ll do and enjoy. For example, walking/jogging, swimming, dancing, etc. This will keep you more committed to doing your routine.

3. I’ll Eat More Fruits, Vegetables, and/or Protein

If your diet is lacking in one or more of the key food groups, you may be thinking it’s time to increase your intake of them.

If you plan on working on building muscle mass, your protein intake should be increased. Moreover, protein helps to repair damage to your muscles.

Keep in mind, not all proteins give the same nutrients. Make sure you’re getting the nutrients you need from complete proteins.

If your goal is to lose weight add more fiberous fruits and vegetables to your diet. On top of that, fruits and vegetables help give you an energy boost.

4. I’ll Make More Homemade Meals and Eat out Less

If you want a healthier diet, homemade meals are a must. This will ensure you get the nutrients your body needs. You’ll have a healthier diet and you’ll know exactly what you’re eating.

If you choose to eat out now and again, take a look at the nutritional information on the menu. This will help you get the nutrients you need for the day, even if it’s not from the healthiest source.

5. I’ll Make Time for Sleep

Sleep is an important part of staying fit. If you don’t get 7-8 hours of sleep every night, you may feel sluggish the next day.

When you don’t sleep, your body can’t recover from the workout you did the day before.

At the same time, by exercising more, it’ll help you get on a better sleep schedule. You’ll have an easier time sleeping.
